Without insurance coverage, most Vermont residents do not have access to fertility care. The majority of Vermonters do not have fertility coverage and Insurance companies seem to regard fertility services as elective or not “medically necessary”. As a result, most households seeking fertility treatments must pay out-of-pocket to cover the medical expenses, which is impossible for many. This bill enhances fertility treatment accessibility by requiring in-state private insurance and Medicaid plans to provide coverage for fertility services, thereby bridging the gap in access to care.
It’s as easy as 1-2-3:
1. First, confirm who your legislators are and find their contact information by searching BY TOWN: https://legislature.vermont.gov/people/search/2024
Please note that you may get results for multiple legislators for your city/town, which is fine. You can feel free to write to all of the State Senators listed. For the State Representative, click on the individual districts listed, which will bring up a map of the neighborhoods/streets included within that district so you can determine YOUR Representative. When you click on each name, it opens a bio, including their email address.
2. Email your state legislators.
Use the email template below to get started, but know that personalized messages are the most impactful!
You can email all of the legislators in one message or do one-by-one, it is up to you. Please also BCC [email protected] if possible! We love to see your advocacy messages.
3. Reach out to us to share any feedback you receive from your state legislators’ offices.
If you have any questions or would like some assistance, email Kate at [email protected]!
